Two Dutch ladies make debut in NPF

Normally I don’t write about softball. But in this case I would like to make an exception.

Two Dutch ladies debuted with the Pennslyvania Rebellion of the National Pro Fastpitch League yesterday.

Infielder Virginie Anneveld and pitcher Dagmar Bloeming signed a contract with the club. But on opening day, both were released according to the website of the league. After contacting Virginie Anneveld, it became clear that both ladies had some visa problems and that they were removed from the roster because of that. Now those visa problems seem to be solved.

Now the website of the NPF states that both ladies have signed a two year deal with the Rebellion.

Both ladies have had a solid career in European softball.

Virginie Anneveld is playing third base. She has a total of 74 caps for the Dutch national team. According to Rebellion
manager Craig Montvidas, who was manager of the Dutch national softball team for a long time, Anneveld is a good contact hitter who can perform under pressure. She also has some very good defensive skills. She debuted in the Hoofdklasse (highest Dutch league).  The fact that she had a try out with Denso Softball team from Kariya in Japan, shows how good she is.

Dagmar Bloeming is a pitcher who debuted in the Dutch Hoofdklasse in 2007. She played a year in the Italian competiion in 2014.
From 2002 to 2006 she played for the Dutch juniors national team. Since 2007 she is an added value for the Dutch national (seniors) team. Craig Montvidas stated: “Dagmar is a young woman who is driven to get the best out of herself. She is a hard worker and has a good sense of humor.”

Last night, Virginie Anneveld entered the game in the bottom of the tenth inning as a pinch hitter. With a 2-2 count she grounded out 6-3. She stayed in the game to play at third base.

With one out and a runner on second base, Dagmar Bloeming entered the game in the top of the eleventh inning. Her opponent hit into an inning ending double play.

Eventually the Rebellion lost 7-3 to the Chicago Bandits.
