Van Mil released by Minnesota

At the end of last season, Dutch pitcher, Loek van Mil returned to the USA as the Minnesota Twins signed the tall right hander to a contract and placed him at their AAA Loek van Milfarm team. In three games his performance was promising as he posted a 0.00 ERA with one strike out and a hit. He kept his opponents to an average of .077.

During the off season, Van Mil signed a contract with the Adelaide Bite of the Australian Baseball League, to prepare himself to the upcoming season. With the Bite, Van Mil posted a 2.93 ERA with a 3-2 record as he kept his opponents limited to a batting average of .246.

This season he was placed on the roster of the Rochester RedWings (AAA team of the Twins) but he could never live up to the expectations.
In five games (5.1) innings, mostly in relief with one spot start, Loek was hit hard as his opponents hit .531 with him on the mound. The tall right hander (7 ft 1) posted an ERA of 23.63.  His last appearance was a spot start vs the Buffalo Bisons in which he gave up five earned runs in only two innings.

There is a big chance that Van Mil will return to Curacao Neptunus, the current Dutch champion, where he pitched last season.

  1. There were rumors that VanMil who had a son just before his return to Rochester at the end of the 2015 season didn’t want to stay in the US and botched his pitching on purpose so he would be released and could return to Holland. seems to be true since hes been a star ever since playing for the Netherlands national team and neptunus. To bad. seems the twins lost some money on that contract!!
